Synopsis
'Children of Karosta' tells a story of Viktorija's family, living in a former Soviet military base in Latvia - Karosta. The surrounding environment, its isolation and the national socio-economic situation has put these people under the test of survival. After a loss of an apartment Viktorija and her eight children look for ways to escape the common destiny, surrounding Karosta community.

Directors Biography
Janis Jurkovskis is a graduate at the Baltic Film and Media School with a specialization in cinematography and directing. He has participated in international feature and documentary film productions in Estonia, Russia, Germany, Finland, Latvia and Portugal. As a documentary filmmaker Janis is interested in the driving forces of people, who are affected by an everyday struggle or a conflict of any kind.
